Spanish second biggest lottery

This month the Powerball drawing was be $700 million, the second-biggest jackpot in US history.

That’s still less than half the record jackpot set in 2016 of $1.5 billion.

But in order to earn the title of “largest in the world,” the latest Powerball would have to defeat a 204-year-old lottery called El Gordo, the Spanish Christmas Lottery that has taken place every year since 1812 and is routinely worth billions.

22 december 2021

The Christmas lottery draw, to be held at the Teatro Real in Madrid on December 22, 2021, is one of the most anticipated times of the year for many Spaniards. Although this traditional lottery has been held for over 200 years, doubts and questions still arise regarding the event. Above all, the possible scams or the way to proceed in the event of winning the ‘Gordo’ are situations that generate strangers among the people participating in the Extraordinary Christmas Giveaway.

The 2020 Christmas Lottery will distribute a total of € 2,408 million in prizes, which is € 28 million more than the previous edition. The winners of the first prize, the ‘Gordo’, will receive 400,000 euros up to and including the tenth.
